Iris Browser - iPhone Like Browsing
Yes, it is yet another web browser post, but I think this one is pretty cool. The people over at Torch Mobile are working on a browser for Windows Mobile that is based off of WebKit, the rendering engine used by Safari on Desktops and the iPhone and iPod Touch (Which by the way, should be recieving an update in a few days…) and also used in Google’s new browser, Chrome. WebKit is known to be lightweight and fast which translates well to mobile devices. The browser features smooth scrolling, tabbed browsing, smart zooming, and much more. It currently does not run as smooth as Safari on the iPhone, but that is to be expected, because Iris was not designed with one particular device in mind like Safari was. I will be uploading a video demo of the browser soon so be on the look out for that.
